Twinkle Layout

Well I finally got organized enough to actually create a layout that fits into 2 challenges.  Challenge Me Monday #44 is a challenge @ the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog.  This weeks challenge was to use a neglected cartridge.  I chose 2, Don Juan and Blackletter, I have never used either of them.  The Music Monday Challenge was hosted by Erin and Angelica.  The song chosen was Satellite by Guster.  We had to create a project with a outer space type theme.

Recipe:

  • My gypsy was very involved in the making of this layout.  The stars are from the Don Juan Cartridge, size 7, 5, 3, and 2", using the stitched feature.  I positioned them where I wanted them on the page and then removed boxes around them using the gypsy's hide key.  The Cricut then only cut the stitching holes.  Background paper is from the K&Co. Designer Paper Classic K McKenna Paper Pad.
  • Pink craft thread from Michaels.
  • Words cut from Blackletter cartridge @ 2"  letters and shadow were welded using gypsy.  It was a  little tricky to make them line up, but I really like the effect.
  • Photo mats cut @ 6X8" and 5.5X7.5"
  • Pink papers are CTMH.
I think this may be one of my favorite layouts in a while.  I love the  look of the stitching.  It really adds dimension to the layout.

So Sweet Layout

Here is a layout I made this afternoon.  I am entering over @ Fantabulos Cricut Challenge Blog, Challenge Me Monday #43. When I read the theme was "sweet shop" I was excited because it meant that would be using my favorite cartridge Cupcake Lite.

Recipe:

  • All patterned paper from The Nana's Nursery Baby Girl Stack by DCWV.
  • Scalloped Mat cut @ 11.5" from accent Essentials cartridge
  • Font cut @ 2" from Cupcake lite cartridge.  I wanted all the little cupcakes to be different so I chose extra cupcakes and then swapped out the letters using my Gypsy.
  • Chip board flower - Cosmo Cricket Buck Naked Buttons and More
  • CTMH Sassy Strands - Summer Carnival Collection: Topiary  given to my by my wonderful sister.
  • The little glass pebbles are from a box of goodies I got for my B-Day from my other awesome sister.
  • Pink card stock is off the rack at my local store,  I am unsure of the brand.
I plan use use a 5X7 photo of my baby girl, it will be the very most sweet part of the page.

Grey is the New Black

If this is true then my supply stash is seriously out of fashion.  I really had to scrounge to find supplies for this card.  Made for The Grey is the New Black Challenge over at Moxie Fab World, we were to use grey in an innovative way.

The ribbon looks so much darker in this photo then in real life.

Recipe:

  • CTMH stamp: Treetops
  • Versamark pad and Silver Embossing powder: CTMH
  • Grey Ribbon from stash cut @ 6".  The only piece of grey ribbon I own.
  • Green Cardstock from stash 3.75X5"
  • Sentiment by Scrap-E-Words: Love and Wedding Words
  • Foam Decal: Townhouse Foam, elegant silver, by American Crafts
  • Grey card base: Recollections Neutral  8.5X11" Bulk Pack
I really do like the look of this card so it looks as if I will be shopping for more grey supplies.
Hope you like it.  Leila

Tiny Treasure Baby Card

I made this card for my cousin who had a baby girl in October.  A little late I know, but I was hoping to deliver her gift in person.  For one reason or another I haven't so the gift is going in the mail on Monday and I figured I better make a card to accompany it.  I am entering it at My Time to Craft Spots and Dots Challenge.

Recipe:
  • I used the clothes line cut from the Straight From The Nest cartridge, cut @ 3.9"
  • The spotted paper is from the Nana's Nursery Baby Girl Stack by DCWV cut @ 4X5.25".
  • Tiny Treasure sentiment is from the Born to Be Wild Girl Vellum Sticker Pad made by Momenta.
  • The card base is random card stock from my stash as is the green ribbon.
I think this turned out really cute.  Hope you like it.

Tacky Tuesday - Whale Wishes

I joined a Facebook group called Tacky Tuesdsy.  Each month they pick a specific Cricut cut and word for us to use to create a card.  This month the word was "whale" and the cut was the whale from the Create-a-Critter cartridge.  Regretfully I do not yet own the cartridge but I found a different whale cut to use instead.

Here is what I came up with.  It really puts the TACKY in Tacky Tuesday.

Recipe:
  •  I used the whale cut from Gypsy Wanderings Digital Cartridge.  They are cut @ 2.75"
  • I made the little veil from some wide organza ribbon from my stash.  I bunched up the end and then stapled it and wrapped it with white embroidery floss.
  • The lip gloss is Distress stickles and the color is worn lipstick, lol, how fitting.
  • I cut the little bow tie from some black foam.

Hope you get a good laugh out of this card.  I know I have.  Leila

A solid High-5 to the folks at Provo Craft.

My new Cricut has arrived already.  What a surprise I got when i picked up my mail at the post office yesterday!  Especially since i thought is was coming FedEx.  I am very impressed with Provo Craft.  They sent my replacement out in only 6 business days after I called in to report my problem.  I must stay they have 5 star customer service.  I am very impressed.  Now I can get all those projects made that i have saved on my gypsy.  Happy Scrapping to me.

MME Blog Challenge #19 Part 2

Here is part 2 of the challenge over @ MME. We had to make a layout or other project from this sketch. It also had to have a winter theme.  And like me the card challenge had to made of at least 80% MME products.

I chose to make a layout.  I was originally think of making a Valentine layout, but when I came across this snowman paper my mind was made up.

Recipe:

  • Background paper MME Dreamy 2 Line - Enchanting spot on paper
  • Other papers - MME Be Merry line - Jolly Little Snow Men cut @ 11X5", Snowball Fun cut @ 2X12", Jack Frost.  MME Snowed in line - Flakes.  MME Wild Asparagus line - "Birthday Boy" Blue cut @ 6X8".
  • All edges inked with Versa Color - Pinecone shade
  • Chip board hearts - Cosmo Cricket Buck Naked Buttons and More Cover in MME paper.
  • Tittle and Gems are MME Lush collection - Blue
  • Rick-rack from Close To My Heart.

Hope You like it. Leila

MME Blog Challenge #19 Part 1

Down to the wire, I decided to participate in this challenge at the MME Blog on the very last day.  I just couldn't pass up the chance to win a MME collection of my choice. There are two parts to this challenge with two chances to win.  This is part one of the challenge.

We had to make a card using 80% MME products from this sketch.

I dug deep into my stash and decided to use a paper from MME 2009 Deena's Penny Lane line.  I have had the song by the Beetles stuck in my head ever since.

When I saw this cute owl paper in the store I remember thinking I had to have it.  Well that was 2 years ago, and although I have paper that is much older, It was time to put it to use.

Recipe:
  • I used a 5X7" card base in oder to make the most of my owl paper.  The paper is MME Wild Asparagus 2008 "Birthday Boy" Dots
  • I fussy cut the owls @ 4.5X6.5"  The paper is MME Deena's Penny Lane Maggie May "Cloe Lynn" Night Owl paper.
  • Added a 4.625X6.625" mat to accent the zig zag edge.  The paper is MME Jen Wilson's 29th Street Market Goody Gumdrops.
  • The Parentheses and Journal block die cuts are from a MME sheet.  left over from my wedding.  I am unsure of the exact name but I believe it is from the Bloom and Grow 2009 line.
  • I used some purple organza ribbon from my stash cut @ 6".
  • And chalked the die cuts and card edge with some purple chalk.
Hope to like it. Leila

Tuesday Trigger: I'm So Pretty

It's challenge time again over at Moxie Fab World.   Here is this weeks Trigger.

Drum roll..........

And here is the card it inspired.

I decided to keep it simple much like the trigger photo. I drew inspiration from the colors and fabrics.

Recipe:

  • 5.5X4.25" Card base Recollections bulk card stock - Neutral Collection.
  • 5.25X4"  Distressed Edge Close To My Heart white core card stock  - Cocoa.
  • 4.75X3.5" Distressed Edge Same a base.
  • Stamp - Treasures- Close To My Heart
  • Image stamped with versa mark and embossed using Tim Holtz Distress Embossing Powder- vintage photo
  • When I was planning this card the fabric used in the cushion reminded me of the material I used to make the dust ruffle for Baby Girl's crib.  So I dug it out and cut 2 - 1.5X 6" strips, attached one with glue dots and used the other to make a false bow.
Hope you like it.  Leila

A dark day is upon us.

I have some terrible news.  Last night I happily gypsied while my hubby watched storm chasers.  I came up with such a cute idea for a card for Tuesday Trigger @ Moxie Fab World.  This morning I had baby girl all set up with toys and my paper cut to size and on the mat ready to cut.  I power up my Cricut and plug in my gypsy.  Look back at my Cricut and it's turned off.  I think what the heck.  After a long battle and trying everything I called ProvoCraft.  MY CRICUT IS DONE FOR!!!!! Now I have 2-4 weeks to wait until the replacement arrives.  And nothing to fill up my time but house work.  I know its a travesty and the worst thing to happen to me this year.  I might decide to go Cricut-less for a few challenges.  Road conditions permitting my sister may lend me her back-up Cricut.  But until then I fear my posts maybe few and far between.

Wacky Wednesday # 21Gift and Treat Bag Challenge

I made this little bag for the Wacky Wednesday challenge over at http://morethanfavors.blogspot.com.  I finally used the Cupcake Lite font cartridge I got for Christmas and I am in LOVE with it.

Recipe:
Gift bag cut @ 11.5" width from Tag Bags Boxes and More Cartridge.  Paper is by My Minds Eye.
Cupcake cut @ 3" width from Cupcake Lite cartridge.  I used the #5 and then removed the 5 with my gypsy.  Paper is Close To My Heart cardstock, watermelon color and aqua glitter paper from the glitter cardstock matstack by DCWV.  It seemed like such a good idea to buy it at the time, but it has now been in my stash for about 5 years.
The words "treat yourself" cut @ 0.65" height and are the Girl Font from the Cupcake Lite cartridge.  I welded them with my gypsy.  Paper is Close To My Heart cardstock, watermelon color.
Ribbon cut @ 8" X 2.  Bulk ribbon from Michaels.

I am very pleased with the way this project turned out.  I plan to fill this little treat-yourself bag with some spa products and give as a birthday gift.

Love Always: Leila

Getting Started

I have decided before I start on any new projects it's best that I have a designated space to create.  As you can see from the photo I have a lot of work ahead of me.  Stay tuned for results.

Hello

Hello everyone and welcome to Creative Tree.  My new blog dedicated to various paper crafts such as scrap booking, card making and home decor.  I am a first time blogger so it will take me a while to get the swing of things.  I hope to have projects to share soon.
