Textured to Perfection

Here is a fun little paper bag Haunted House I made and am entering in the Textured to perfection Challenge at Moxie Fab World.

I embossed some black cardstock with a purple core and then sanded it to bring out more purple. I cut the little shutters by hand and sanded them as well I also added some stickles for a little glam.

Mr. and Mrs. Enstien (hehehe) were cut using the Cricut Happy Hauntings Cartridge.  I cut all the layers from white cardstock and the colored them using Copic Markers.  It is a technique I have been wanting to try for a while.

I was sooo excited to light it with a battery tea light and see the yellow vellum glow.  Sadly shortly after these pictures were taken Bentley got a hold of it and destoyed it.  Far too bummed out to make a new one.  Oh the joys of motherhood. It was super cute while it lasted.

Fanatical about Botanical Challenge

Hello, here is a card I created especially for the Fanatical about Botanical Challenge over at Moxie Fab World.

Sentiment : My Pink Stamper

Paper : K &Co.

Cardstock : Recollections

Cut : Kate's ABCs Cricut Cartridge

I own quite a bit of botanical style paper and never seem to be able to cut it up or cover it with pictures.  So the collection grows and grows.  This is why I like to participate in challenges, they force me outside my box. This was a fun challenge for me, it runs until August 8th.  Lots of time for you to make your own botanical creations.

Stamp It! Cards Week Challenge in Moxie Fab World

Hello, that last month has been so busy with 2 weddings, a quilting retreat and my Daughters First Birthday.  There is STILL a postal strike/lockout here in Canada, a bad and good thing I guess.  I am unable to mail out the prize from the last hop, but the temptation to order things online isn't an issue.

So I have finally created a project for a challenge.  I made this card for The Stamp It! Card Week Challenge in Moxie Fab World.  Although I don't have a specific person in mind, it is nice to have a baby card on hand.

I made this card using Stampin' Up's Baby Tees Stampin' Round Jumbo Roller.  I order it a while ago and have been eager to use it.  It is just the cutest.  I paper pieced the middle tee and gave it some dimension with a pop dot.  The word baby is from My Pink Stamper Friends and Family Set.

Hope you like it.

Birthday Bash Blog Hop

Good Morning Everyone!!!  If you are joining me from Debbie's blog then you are right on track.  If you randomly came across this hop click HERE to visit Lisa and start at the beginning.  I am super excited to take part in my very FIRST Blog Hop!!!  Who could stop at one project??  My first project is a card for the lovely Lisa our hostess of the hop.  Happy Birthday Lisa!

I've been itching to use my newest Cricut Cartridge 3 Bird's on Parade.  It came in the mail last week as part of a buy 2 get 1 free promotion between Michaels and Provo Craft.  Isn't this little birdie just the cutest.  I also broke open a pack of animal print Recollections Cardstock I picked up on sale a while ago.

I made these next projects for my Daughter's 1st Birthday Party in June.  I decided to go with a Teddy Bear's Picnic theme.

These are the invites and party hats I made with the help of my Gypsy.  The party hats are from the Elmo's Party cartridge and the Teddy Bears are from the Sugar and Spice cartridge.  Faces were stamped using PKS Critter Faces set.  I added some dimension to the little bows with some organza ribbon I got from Walmart.   Keeping with the picnic theme the lyrics to The Teddy Bear's Picnic song are printed out on the inside.  I am in love with these invites and decided to enter them in the Whimsical Wednesday Take Shape Challenge for shaped cards.

And now for the icing on the cake.  Some Blog Candy!  I will be drawing for this fun treat.

The Happy Birthday 2U Paper Pad and Embellishments  from K and Co.

For a chance to win leave me a comment and a way to get a hold of you if you win.  You don't need to be a follower to win, but I would love it if you joined me here at Creative Tree.  I will randomly pick a winner May 26th at 10:00 am MST so there will be plenty of time to enter.

Now continue on to the very talented Emily.  Happy Hopping Everyone, and Happy Victoria Day to all you Canadians out there.

Tuesday Trigger: Skirting the Issue

Hello here is a photo of this weeks trigger in Moxie Fab World.  We were to use it to inspire a paper carft project of out choice.

This pleated skirt reminded me of some paper i knew I had some where in my stash.  I had to look through a few bins but i finally managed to find where I had filed it away.  It would appear not as great a match as first thought.

Here is the card triggered by this photo.

I folded some paper along the bottom edge of the card trying to mimic the skirt pleats.  The Cake was cut from Smiley Cards digital cartridge. Hope you like it.  I just love to take part in these challenges when I have the time.  They are really fun.  You should play along.

Throwback Thursday- St. Patty's Day LO

This past Throwback Thursday the challenge was to create a St. Patrick's Day project using any older cartridge.  The Challenge for Wacky Wednesday at More than Favors- by Paula was also to make a St. Patty's project.
I don`t have a whole pile of carts, the only one I have with a shamrock  is Celebrate with Flourish.

The background paper in this LO is the real throwback.  I think it might even be from the 90`s.
And the lime green card stock is from a 8.5 X 11 pack from way back in the day.

Recipe:
  • Tittle is from Robotz cut at 2.57 and 4``
  • Shamrocks from Celebrate with Flourish cut at 2``(the actual cut is 2 shamocks.  I trimmed it down to 1.)
  • Flowers by Prima Flowers
  • Brad by CTMH

This is Baby Girls fist St. Patrick's day and I have the cutest little green outfit laid out for her to wear.  I am so excited.

Wild One - Wacky Wednesday # 28 - Zoo Theme

Here a sweet little card I made for a sweet little girl turning one next week.  I am entering it in Wacky Wednesday at More than Favors - by Paula.  The challenge this week was to make a zoo themed project.

Card Front:
Card Inside:

Recipe:
  • I used the paper piecing technique to make the 3 little animals. Stamps by CTMH, they were a Stamp of the Month a couple of years ago.  This is the first time I've used them, I don't know why.  They are flippin' cute.  The lion mane was made using about 5" of ribbon and a whole lot of glue dots.
  • Word "wild" stamped in daisy white by CTMH.
  • Word "one" cut at 1.75" from Plantin' Schoolbook Cartridge.
  • "Happy Birthday" stamp by My Pink Stamper. Pink lettering is a Rub-On.
  • Papers are mostly scraps.  Diamond background by Crafty Secrets.
So this is my zoo themed project.  Hope it inspires you to play along.

Tuesday Trigger: An Idea in Yellow

I was very inspired by this weeks Tuesday Trigger in Moxie Fab World.

What a great little picture, right.  You should really play along.  Here is the project I came up with.

When I fist saw this trigger I thought what a cute yellow door.  I bet that cute yellow door belongs to a cute little white house with matching yellow windows.  So the little house in my layout was born.  My second thought was the name its self "An Idea in Yellow" telling me that the project must be predominately yellow.   I also drew inspiration from the pink flower in the vase on the table and the old single pain leaded glass windows.  Which transformed into the pink flowers and accents on the page and the glass pebbles I used for the flower centers.

Recipe:
  • House cut @ 5" from the Cricut Sugar and Spice Cartridge.  I cut the house siding from some corrugated card stock so it would appear more like siding.  You could get the same effect using your cuddle bug, but sadly I do not yet own one.    Using the gypsy, I stacked the layers to cut doubles of the roof, then  popped up the bottom of the roof to add a little more depth.
  • Tittle cut @ 1.75" from Gypsy Font Digital Cartridge
  • Ribbon cut @ 13" by Hot Off the Press
  • Card stock by Treasures, Coredinations, and CTMH
  • Inks by CTMH, daisy white and bubble gum.
Well there my latest of many baby layouts.  I try to sneak in other projects but have  a growing mountain of baby pictures to scrap.  Hope no one is getting sick of baby related projects.

Challenge Me Monday # 49 - Shaped Card

Hello here is a card I made for my father-in-law for his birthday.  It matches up with Challenge Me Monday over at Fantabulous Cricut.  The challenge was to make a shaped card, anything but a square or rectangle. This card is also compliant with The Paper Variety - Lets See Your Green Blog Hop.

Recipe:
  • This cute little frog is from The Cricut Lite Playtime Cartridge cut @ 5.5" using scraps from who knows when. It was my first time using this cartridge and I am quite pleased.  I turned the black base layer into a card using the mirror and weld features on my Gypsy.
  • I inked the frog with a stippling foam brush using brown and green ink and inked the edges of the lily pad straight from the green ink pad.
Inside the card it says "Hope your Birthday is TOADily awesome".  Cheesy I know but still cute.  This is the first non-A2 size card I have made.  Sheesh am I going crazy,  that's two projects in a row way out of my comfort zone.

2-Let them know you chose them
3-Copy & paste the blog award on your blog
4-Have faith that your followers will rally & show their crafty love back out to those you awarded
5-Have fun!
Here are my picks:

Moxie Fab World Layout

Here is a page I created for The Paper Piecing Challenge in Moxie Fab World.  For this challenge we were to incorporate the paper piecing technique in an innovative way, by stamping an image on patterned paper or card stock then piecing it together on our project.  This project was way outside my comfort zone as I despise cutting small pieces by hand.  There are a million things I'd rather do, but for the sake of this challenge I had to suck it up.  I am sure glad I did.

Recipe:
  • Stamps are CTMH from the Groovy set.  Stamped and cut from scraps of patterned paper.
  • Card stock is Bazzil Basics cut 7.5X7.5
  • Circle is cut @ 11", paper MME.
  • Font cut @ 2" from Alphalicious Cricut Cartridge.
  • I also used some icicle Stickles here and there.
I had never stamped on patterned paper before.  I have to say I love the look.  It's a Moxie Fab World when you can try new things and learn new techniques.  This was such a fun challenge, you should play along.

Wacky Wednesday # 27 - Farm Challenge

Each month I take a picture of my baby girl with her giant stuffed cow.  These days the cow is not so giant anymore.  lol.  When I came across this challenge at More Than Favors - by Paula, I saw it as the perfect opportunity  to actually complete one of the many layouts I have stored in my gypsy for these monthly pictures.  The challenge is to make anything farm themed.

Recipe:
  • Cut barn @ 10.5" from the Country life cartridge.  I am in LOVE with the pink farm animal paper, by Making Memories.  Thanks Jenny.
  • The shadow feature is also cut @ 10.5".  I had to use a big (12X24) mat so the design would cut from edge to edge.
  • The clouds are from Indie art I cut 2 @ 2" and 2 @ 3".
  • The sun is from Cricut Classic font and was cut at 9".
  • Font is from All Mixed Up and is cut @ 2".
  • The cardstock is a mixture from my stash,  I know the pink is from CTMH and matches the pitter patter line perfectly.
  • I also used CTMH ink to ink the edges. Blush and Sweet Leaf.
I think this page turned out really well and is just too adorable.  It is very special to me because baby girl is only 2 days old in the picture. (Sigh)
